Description: A small tree frog with a large eye and a pure
white spot on the lip below the eye. (Rhacophorus gauni also has
a white spot at that point.) The webbing reaches the base of the pads on
all toes except the fourth. The two outer fingers are about half to
two-thirds webbed and the inner fingers less webbed. The eye is about as
large as the snout. The skin is smooth above and coarsely pebbled below.
There is a narrow fringe along the edges of the outer finger and toe. The
colour is medium to dark brown on the head and back with a darker bar
between the eyes and usually one or two crossbars on the back. The sides
are black with a number bright light blue spots; usually the top of the
inner toes and webbing have the same pattern.
Males: 28-35 mm.
Females: 34-43 mm.
Tadpole: Unknown.
Habits and habitat: This species has been seen only in primary forests at low elevations. It has been found in flat and hilly forest. Although tadpoles have not been identified with certainty, they probably develop in riffles of clear streams since that is the environment where adults have always been collected.
Call: Unknown.
Distribution: Known from Kalimantan, Sabah, and Sarawak. It probably will be found in Brunei. Elsewhere it occurs in southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, and the southern Philippines.
