Cutting Cycle
In order to allow sufficient time for a harvested forest to grow and regenerate, the cutting cycles adopted for the peat swamp forest and hill mixed dipterocarp forests are 45 years and 25 years respectively.
Each concession area in the permanent forest estate is given an annual allowable harvest, known as the annual coupe, which is prescribed in and implemented through the forest management plan. This ensures that the cutting cycles are adhered to.
