The Forest Research Division moved to its present premises, the Forest Research Centre at Km10, Jalan Datuk Amar Kalong Ningkan, Kuching in December 1996 to cater for its expanding research activities. The Centre accommodates six Research Units, the Sarawak Herbarium, laboratories and a nursery.

Objective
The objective of the Forest Research Division is to provide information necessary for formulating a sound management policy on the utilization of forest resources through intensive and applied research in botany, ecology, entomology, pathology, silviculture and soils.
