SimaroubaceaeUnbranched tree or shrub up to 8m tall and 15cm diameter, or with a few upright branches, each crowned by an umbrella-like rosette of leaves.
Habitat: Abundant on well-drained sandy soils below 1200m, in primary and secondary mixed dipterocarp, kerangas and sub-montance forests.
Distribution: Throughout Sarawak.
Note: The nuts are locally used for treating malaria and the roots for preparation of health tonic.
