Monophyllaea insignis Gesneriaceae
All Monophyllaea species

Twenty three species are recorded in Sarawak. These are herbs with fleshy stems, usually single leafed, sometimes with 3-4 petiolate leaves. Their sizes range from very small to 50cm tall.

Habitat: Monophyllaea is a genus of the limestone except M. merriliana which was recorded in Bukit Tibang in Sarawak. All species grow on damp, cool and shady areas.

Distribution: Locally abundant in limestone hills at Bau, Padawan, Tebakang and Mulu National Park.

Note: Monophyllaea species are vulnerable as they are very habitat specific.
