| FUNCTIONS OF FOREST DEPARTMENT

To constitute areas of forest as Forest Reserves, Protected Forest, Communal Forest, National Park,
Nature Reserves and Wildlife Sanctuary;
To impose and collect royalties,
premia, fees and other payments due to the Government;
To issue licences and permits under the Forests Ordinance (Cap. 126),
National Parks & Nature Reserves Ordinance (1998) and Wildlife Protection Ordinance (1998);
To regulate production and export of logs from Sarawak;
To renew licences;
To compound offences under the Forests Ordinance (Cap. 126),
National Parks & Nature Reserves Ordinance (1998) and Wildlife Protection Ordinance (1998);
