Measurements: Tail length : 2 - 2.5 m.
Identification: Overall grey to dark slate-blue, paler underneath - no distinctive pattern. Dorsal fin small and rounded behind middle of back. Forehead high and rounded; beak lacking. Broad rounded flippers.
Similar Species: The Finless Porpoise, Neophocaena phocaenoides, is smaller and has no back fin; the Hump-backed Dolphin, Sousa chinensis, is larger, has a longer beak and larger dorsal fin.
Ecology and Habitat: Prefer inshore waters and estuaries, including very muddy and murky waters. Quiet and inconspicuos, rarely leaping or jumping.
Distribution: Often seen in estuaries and bays, with sightings from Sandakan in Sabah; most parts of Brunei and Sarawak.
